Pre + Postnatal
During pregnancy, regular exercise has been shown to control excess weight gain, improve the recovery after birth, and reduce the risk of conditions such as gestational diabetes. It is also beneficial to strengthen postural muscles around the lower back and pelvis (which contribute to pregnancy-related pelvic pain), as well as upper body muscles needed to maintain good posture whilst feeding, carrying, lifting etc. Our prenatal classes are a great way to stay active during your pregnancy.
Most women are very keen to return to exercise and sport after childbirth, but it is often difficult to know what exercises will be best to start with. It is important to be aware that while there many exercises that will help you improve your core and pelvic floor strength and control, there are some that may make it worse and cause longer term problems such as bladder and bowel problems or pelvic organ prolapse. Our postnatal mums and bubs classes are a great way to start.
